Celebrating my birthday in Walt Disney World

I celebrated my birthday on Friday, June 3rd with my friend Angela. She is my #alohabestie. We met when we were both living in Honolulu, Hawaii and now live a few miles apart from one another in sunny Florida. While living in Hawaii we used to enjoy visiting Aulani together.

Now we are enjoying the opportunity to share memories at Walt Disney World as well.

We decided to celebrate my birthday at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

The Grand Floridian Beach Resort is inspired by the Victorian Era. The lobby is five stories tall with gorgeous chandlers, stained glass domed ceilings, and a beautiful caged elevator.

The marble floors are absolutely beautiful. They even have some of your favorite Disney characters inlays.

There are so many magical experiences you can have at the Grand Floridian. Enjoying afternoon tea at The Garden View Tea Room is on the very top of my list!

The Garden View Tea Room offers several different tea services to choose from. They range from a traditional tea service that’s quite simple to an upscale tea service that includes cavier and champagne.

I always select The Bedfordshire Tea Service.

The Bedfordshire Tea Service First Course is a medley of finger sandwiches served with berries, cheese, and lavosh crackers. It is also served with a small sweet onion tart.

The selection of sandwiches includes a beet sandwich, a cucumber sandwich, and an egg salad sandwich. I am in love with these sandwiches! I actually think that I dream about them. They are so dainty and tasty.

Here is a little fun fact about me…

Mayonnaise is my FEAR FACTOR! I won’t touch the stuff. I also substitute my egg salad sandwiches for an extra beet and an extra cucumber. They are laying on a thin layer of delicious cream cheese.

The Second Course is a Buttery Scone and Jam Tart. It is served with fresh cream butter, lemon curd, and apricot jam. I’m also a big fan of the scone. I like anything that is made with real butter. The jam tart is a little too rich for me.

The Third Course is your choice of dessert. You may select house made pastries, strawberries and cream, or English Trifle.

I always always choose the house made pastries. It comes with an eclair, chocolate covered strawberry, and a swan cream puff.  I honestly don’t think that I can choose a favorite from these desserts. They are exceptional. Who doesn’t love a delicate swan that’s delicious?

You also receive a pot of your choice of tea!

I even had a surprise waiting for me at the Tea Room. My #CuteCajunHubby had a birthday balloon bouquet waiting for me on arrival.

Our tea time was at 4 p.m. As luck would have it Cinderella and Prince Charming were hosting a parade of their Royal Court. They invited Prince and Princesses to join them as they walked through the beautiful lobby while waving to their Royal Subjects. Their parade concluded in the center of the lobby with Cinderella and Prince Charming sharing a dance while the band played.

We finished our tea and enjoyed the evening in the Magic Kingom.
