This Pineapple Princess Gives Her Vanity Seat A Tiki Room Update

One of my favorite Walt Disney attractions is the Tiki Room. How can you not love that catchy song?

“All The Birds Sing Words And The Flowers Croon. In The Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room.”

I’m guessing the Tiki Room, Elvis Presley Beach Movies, Lilly Pulitzer clothing, Annette Funicello, and the three years that I lived in Hawaii began my love of all things tropical.

So when it came time to give my vanity seat a much needed update I was on the hunt for Tiki fabric.

I found just what I was looking for at JoAnn Fabrics and Craft. I couldn’t have dreamed up a better fabric. It has Tiki Statues, tropical drinks, coconuts, and flamingos, too!

Now that I had found my fabulous fabric it was time to get down to business. Here is a shot of of the vanity seat before the project began.

I started by unscrewing the seat from the base.

Once the seat was removed I placed it on top of my fabric and cut a large circle. I tried to leave about two inches of fabric all the way around the seat.

I also used a Sharpie on the bottom of the seat to mark where the back of the chair would connect to the frame to ensure that I would like the final print placement of my fabric.

After that it was time to grab the staple gun.

I pulled the fabric tightly while smoothing the edges and stapling every half inch…give or take.

Now it was time to screw the seat back in the frame.

And there you have it…A Tiki vanity seat!

Aloha & Xoxo,

Kate

Thanks for sharing your vanity seat makeover. That fabric is perfect!! I especially like the flamingo and pineapple in it!
One of these days I would love to recover my dining room chairs. It’s something I’ve always thought about doing!! Looks like an easy update!!

    • Thank you so much for reading! It’s really easy to update dining room chairs. I usually change mine out every time we move. I’ve got extra yards of this fabric…who knows I may end up recovering my dining room chairs as well. If you do decide to update yours I would love to see the photos. 🙂
