Spotlight on Epcot ~ Germany Pavilion 🇩🇪

When most people find out that I’m a Disney fanatic I am usually asked the same questions over and over again.  “What do you do there?” “Do you just ride on the rides ALL day?”

I think that most people don’t realize that

 Walt Disney World

Is so much more than the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella’s Castle

If we are being totally honest I do have mad love for Magic Kingdom and its rides but there is so much more in the “World” to explore.

Epcot is the second park to open in Disney World. It made its debut on October 1, 1982 and is getting ready to celebrate its 35th birthday.

Epcot has always been a park for entertainment and discovery since the beginning. Epcot is divided into two parts Future World and World Showcase.

World Showcase is the perfect way to spend the afternoon. You can immerse yourself in the culture of 11 different countries.

Germany is one of my favorite places to tour.

It really has something for everyone!

Most folks I know stop by Germany to eat in the Biergarten, and I don’t blame them because it’s delicious.

The Biergarten is an all you care to eat buffet with sausage, schnitzel, sauerkraut, spaetzle, and carved meats.

A traditional German Oompah Band entertains you while you dine.

They also have a really tasty dessert bar. I could probably eat my weight and apple strudel and Bavarian cheesecake.

Another place to grab a bite is their quick service restaurant called Sommerfest

It offers you the opportunity to pick up your bratwurst, bier, or strudel on the go.

I stop by Germany often because it has a few hidden food gems you may not know about. One of the tastiest and most affordable snacks in the entire World Showcase can be found in the Weinkeller.

The Weinkeller is home to the $5 cheese plate. That’s right… I said $5 cheese plate.

The cheese plate consist of three premium cheeses and comes with sliced alpine ham and two pretzel crisp.

It’s perfect for sharing and makes a great accompaniment to a bier or glass of wine.

(Someone I know REALLY likes the cheese plate)

Once I finish my cheese plate I like to get a treat at Karamell-Küche.

Karamell-Küche is an amazing German Carmel shop that even Hantzel and Gretel couldn’t resist. The sweet sugary smell draws you in and once inside the possibilities are endless.  I would like to share a few of my favorite treats.

The caramel and chocolate pineapple slice is absolutely at the top of my list. It is the perfect snack on a hot day. The pineapple is icy cold and extremely refreshing. You have the option of milk or dark chocolate. I prefer the dark chocolate. The contrast of the bittersweet chocolate and sweet juiciness of the pineapple is a delight!

The Carmel bacon square is deliciously Rich. It has a soft chewy texture and the salty bacon is perfection.

The salted caramel cupcake is pretty self-explanatory. Disney has plenty of cupcakes to choose from and this is one of their very best. It is dense, moist, and everything a cupcake is supposed to be.

The Carmel S’more rounds out my list of must eats at the Karmell-Küche…but they really do have something for everyone’s sweet tooth.

Once I’ve got a full belly it’s time to move onto my next love… Shopping!

Kunstarbeit In Kristall is a shop that I adore!

It seems like everyone is caught up in the castle necklace craze

Myself included

The Kunstarbeit In Kristall has the most gorgeous Swarovski Crystal items that can make you feel like your favorite Disney princess.

Aladdin’s lamp

Cinderella’s shoe

Snow whites Apple

And a gorgeous castle fit for a princess

They also offer these beautiful Beauty and the Beast earrings and they have a matching necklace.

My favorite item is the Cinderella’s carriage necklace

Are you someone who counts down the days until Christmas every year? Then the Die Weihnachts Ecke is for you.

They have a delightful German Christmas ornaments year round including some with your favorite Disney characters.

They also have a German pickle tree

The pickle ornament is a beloved German family tradition. It is typically the last ornament hung on The Christmas tree by German parents. It is hidden in the branches and the child that finds it receives an extra present. It is really a fun tradition to adopt even if you aren’t German.

Der Teddybear is the sweetest shop in the Germany Pavilion.

Here you will find the kidcot Epcot stations.

You can meet young people from Germany at the kidcot stations. They can teach you a few German phrases, and share their culture with you. They can also help you to create a Duffy fan that you can take to other kidcot stations around the World Showcase.

Der Teddybear is home to the Steiff bear

And other Disney character merchandise including Duffy bear.

There are so many unique items though out this pavilion. Here are some of my favorites.

My tour though Germany typically ends by visiting the little train track.

Be sure to check it out during the festivals of Epcot. They usually have some special decorations around the town.

I hope that you will take a little extra time to explore one of my favorite spots the next time that you visit Epcot.

Aloha & Xoxo,

Kate
